PLDT, What Takes you so Long

It’s been three days since our telephone/internet connection was down.  It will be its 4th day today and it’s not yet restored.  I have already contacted the customer service of PLDT last Sunday and the operator said that he will log the problem and have it scheduled for line check.

Since Monday and every day after that, my husband called PLDT to follow-up on the status and all he can hear from the operator is that, the problem has been logged and is just awaiting action.  Haaay … what a lousy service for a big company such as PLDT.

We also encountered the same problem last year, it was around November and it also took days before their service was restored.  I blogged about it so I can keep track of how many times PLDT DSL service bogs down in a year.  So far since we started using their service (since 2007), we have experienced service interruption at least twice a year and usually it comes after a strong typhoon hits Metro Manila.

I don’t have any problem with that because I understand that even the best system is not free from any problem once natural calamities strike.  What I just want to ask PLDT is for them to strengthen and make their technical services as fast as possible so that customers won’t experience a prolonged downtime.

Rain, Rain Go Away

It’s been raining for days now and though I love the cooler temperature that the rain brings, I also dread the flood that brought about by continuous raining.

Flood makes life miserable for almost everyone … the danger it gives to people’s lives and the damage it can do to properties are just enormous that people are now anxious once rainy season sets in.

Yesterday, Metro Manila was once again flooded because of the monsoon rain intensified by typhoon “Falcon” which was hitting northern Luzon.  Many major roads were flooded which resulted to heavy traffic and a lot of commuters were stranded on the road.  Public utility vehicles were scarce that one of my friends even went back to the office and spent the night there.

I was caught in the traffic for two hours and once again I waded on an ankle-deep flood waters (I’m still blessed because I saw on television that others were wading a chest-deep high flood waters).  In as much that I don’t want to wade on flood waters because of the scare of leptospirosis that hit me just a few weeks ago, I really have no choice.  I just hope and pray that I won’t have that flu once again which prompts doctors to treat you as leptospirosis case once you tell them that you have waded on flood waters.

Anyway, I reached our home safely and immediately I took a warm bath and drank salabat (boiled water with ginger) after.  It’s one way of keeping my body warm after being drenched in rain water for some time.

Today the weather is not yet okay so hubby and I decided to just take a leave for the day and I’m happy that we did because heavy rain still falls from time to time and for sure it will be hard to commute once again.

I hope tomorrow would be a clear day so that flood waters will subside especially in low lying areas which were greatly affected by the flood.  So please, rain, rain go away …in as much that we need you, too much of you doesn’t serve us good as well.

The Scare of Leptospirosis

This weekend I felt sick.  I've got a headache, fever, muscle pains, diarrhea and some chills.  At first I just thought that it was just a plain symptoms of flu and that all I have to do is to rest and take some paracetamol but I remembered that last week I walked through a flooded street in Alabang, not that high but already enough to submerge my feet and so I decided to go to the clinic to have a doctor check on me.  I remember that a deadly (if left untreated) disease called leptospirosis can be get from walking through dirty flood waters.

When the doctor learned that I have waded through a flooded street last week, she immediately sent me for a urine and blood test.  She told me that there is a separate test for leptospirosis but the result will still be available after 10 days so for the meantime, she just have to see the result of my urine and CBC tests (which were already available after one hour) and if the CBC test shows some abnormalities, she will send me to a hospital right away.  Wooo, that was really scary.

Good thing, my CBC result appeared normal, but there are some infection found in my urine sample so the doctor gave me two types of antibiotic to treat the infections and she advised me to take a rest for two days and she warned me that if my condition doesn't improve after two days, I have to go directly to the hospital.

Today I already felt some improvement ... my muscle pain already gone, no more fever and chills.  My head still aches a little but it's already tolerable.  I still have to go back to the clinic to get the result of the other blood tests the doctor had requested and I hope there's nothing alarming about it.

Good day everyone and God bless us all.

It's Our 10th Year Wedding Anniversary Today

Today is June 6, 2011 and it's been 10 years since I was married to my wonderful husband.  I thank God for this most amazing blessing He have showered me, giving me someone special to share my life with.

Ten years of happy married life and blessed with two adorable kids (a girl and a boy), wow, God has been so good to us.  Of course life isn't always fun, we're only human and we have our individual flaws that sometimes brings tension to our relationship but thanks God, with His guidance, we were able to surpass all the trials and temptations that we encounter along the way.

To my husband, Andrew, I'm very blessed to be your wife and I'm looking forward for a grand golden wedding anniversary with you.  May our love and respect for one another become stronger and stronger each day so our children can learn from us how to live their lives full of love and respect for one another.  Let's work hand in hand, together with God's guidance, to raise our children become responsible citizens of this country and be a blessing to others.

Happy Anniversary papa, I love you and God bless us always.
